Former U.S. President, Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton are set to testify later this month in a congressional investigation into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to a statement by Republican U.S. Representative James Comer.

Comer, who chairs the House Oversight Committee, said Hillary Clinton will appear on February 26, while Bill Clinton is scheduled for February 27. Both sessions will be conducted as filmed and transcribed depositions.

The planned appearances come after House Republicans moved to hold the Clintons in contempt of Congress for initially declining to testify in person. That contempt vote has now been placed on hold following their agreement to appear before the committee.

“We look forward to questioning the Clintons as part of our investigation into the horrific crimes of Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, to deliver transparency and accountability for the American people and for survivors,” Comer said.

The committee had previously recommended contempt proceedings after the Clintons offered to cooperate without appearing in person, arguing the probe was politically motivated. House Speaker Mike Johnson confirmed that contempt proceedings have been paused to allow the depositions to go ahead.

The investigation follows the recent release of millions of U.S. Justice Department documents detailing Epstein’s connections with influential figures in politics, finance and business.

Bill Clinton has acknowledged flying on Epstein’s private jet several times in the early 2000s but has said he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal activities and has expressed regret over the association. Epstein died in a New York jail in 2019 in a death ruled a suicide, while his associate Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20 year prison sentence for sex trafficking and related offences.
