Former United States President, Clinton has condemned the recent actions of federal agents in Minneapolis and other parts of the country, describing the scenes as horrible and unacceptable.
In a public statement, President Clinton said people, including children, were taken from their homes, workplaces and the streets by masked federal officers. He added that peaceful protesters and citizens who were observing, documenting law enforcement activities were arrested, beaten and tear-gassed.
Former President Clinton further stated that in some cases, including those of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, individuals were shot and killed during the operations.
According to him, authorities in charge failed to act responsibly and instead pushed aggressive tactics while also blocking investigations by local officials.
He warned that the country is at a critical moment where decisions taken now could shape the future, adding that citizens risk losing long standing freedoms if they remain silent.
He called on all supporters of democracy to stand up, speak out and defend the principles of government by the people, stressing that the nation must continue to belong to the citizens.
