China has removed Wang Xiangxi from his position as Minister of Emergency Management, according to state media reports on Thursday.
The move comes weeks after China’s top anti graft body announced in January that Wang was under investigation for suspected serious violations of discipline and law, a term commonly used in the country for corruption related offences.
No further details were immediately provided regarding the reasons for his removal or his replacement.
The development follows a series of high profile investigations by Chinese authorities as part of an ongoing anti corruption campaign targeting officials across various sectors of government.
