A China-based Nigerian businessman, Ibeanu Vincent Chukwudulue and two Angolan citizens, Mbandu Martins Makiadi and Ngoma Wilson Fernando, have excreted a total of 236 wraps of cocaine following their arrest by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, respectively.
The 34-year-old Ibeanu was arrested on Wednesday 4th February 2026 while on board a Qatar Airways flight 1432 from Kano to China enroute Abuja/Doha. Acting on credible intelligence, NDLEA operatives at the Abuja airport deboarded him and conducted a body scan, which confirmed ingestion of illicit drugs. He subsequently excreted 52 pellets of cocaine weighing 735.95 grams. In his statement, he said he was into business on Lagos Island before relocating to Guanzhou, China in 2024.
The two Angolans, Mbandu Martins Makiadi, 50, and Ngoma Wilson Fernando, 52, were intercepted at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport during outward clearance for passengers travelling to Istanbul, Turkey via Addis Ababa on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET940. Both tested positive for ingestion of illicit drugs. Mbandu excreted 76 wraps weighing 920 grams in seven excretions while Ngoma expelled 108 pellets weighing 1.33 kilograms in five excretions.
The suspects, who hail from Hoji Ya Henda in Luanda, Angola, claimed they were recruited by a Luanda-based automobile spare parts dealer who promised $3,000 each upon successful delivery of the consignment in Turkey.
In a separate case, convicted drug kingpin, Olashupo Michael Oladimeji attempted to export 1.10 kilograms of cocaine concealed in processed cassava granules (Garri) to London on a Virgin Atlantic flight. Oladimeji, currently serving a five-year jail term at Ikoyi Correctional Centre, Lagos, was arrested in 2025 for unlawful conspiracy to export 17.90 kilograms of cocaine. NDLEA operatives intercepted the consignment at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and arrested staff member Adedeji Yusuf Gbolahan who presented the consignment.
Also, a 44-year-old estate surveyor, Adelaja Taiwo Adetayo, attempted to export 1.70 kilograms of skunk concealed in five jerry cans to the UK. Cargo agent, Mustapha Quddus Opeyemi was initially arrested while a follow-up operation led to the arrest of Adelaja at Ahmadiyya area of Lagos on Monday, February 9.
On Thursday 12th February, NDLEA intercepted a waybill package sent from Enugu containing a children’s toy guitar at Abuja airport. Two parcels of Canadian Loud, weighing 59.2 grams, were recovered. Owner Henry Onuma was arrested at Dream City Estate, Life Camp, Abuja.
In Lagos, NDLEA raided a four-bedroom duplex at 2 Alexandria Terrace, Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki, used for production and storage of Colos, a synthetic cannabis. Thirteen point two kilograms of freshly produced Colos and precursor chemicals were recovered while Amos Innocent, the driver transporting 73 cartons of nitrous oxide to Benin City, Edo State, was arrested.
In Ibadan, Oyo State, Oluwayemisi Bunmi, 45, was arrested at Hope Alakia area. Recovered from her include 1.189 kilograms of Colos, 320 grams of methamphetamine, ₦2,975,000 in cash, and two Toyota Matrix cars.
NDLEA also intercepted 105,400 Tramadol pills from Kamilu Abdullahi, 43, at Bode Saadu, Kwara State on Thursday, February 12.
In Edo State, five suspects Murtala Mohammed, Abdulkadir Idris Mohammed, Ufoma Edafe, Anthony Aghati, and Emmanuel Owalu Ekele – were arrested on Saturday 14th February at Yoruba Camp, Olumoye Forest, Ovia North East LGA, Edo State. A total of 563.5 kilograms of skunk were recovered.
Across the country, NDLEA officers continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) enlightenment in schools, worship centres, workplaces and communities. Locations covered include Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomoso; Government Day Secondary School, Yola; Government Secondary School, Tudun Gwandara, Lafia; Government Girls Technical and Commercial College, Charanchi; and Ajumoni Senior Secondary School, Mushin, Lagos.
Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers and men of MAKIA, MMIA, NAIA, Lagos, Edo, Kwara, FCT, and Oyo Commands for their professionalism and urged them to continue the balanced approach to drug supply and demand reduction efforts.
