Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has expelled at least 60 students from various departments for involvement in examination malpractice, reaffirming the institution’s commitment towards academic integrity, discipline.
The decision was taken at the university’s 43rd statutory Senate meeting held on January 7, 2026, following a detailed review of reports and recommendations submitted by relevant academic and disciplinary committees.
The expulsions were announced in the university’s official Weekly Bulletin, published on Friday, where management disclosed that the affected students were found guilty of violating the institution’s examination rules and regulations.
“After reviewing the cases, the Senate approved the expulsion of the students in accordance with the university’s examination regulations,” the statement read.
According to the bulletin, the Senate carefully examined each case before approving the sanctions in line with existing rules.
BUK reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on examination misconduct, stressing that strict sanctions would continue to be enforced to deter future violations.
The university further warned that any form of examination malpractice would attract severe consequences, regardless of a student’s status or department, and reaffirmed its resolve to uphold academic standards across the institution.
