Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment towards addressing the remaining security challenges in the state while ensuring the timely completion of all ongoing developmental projects across the three senatorial districts.

The pledge was made during the first regular State Executive Council meeting of 2026, held at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Maiduguri.

Governor Zulum told cabinet members and top government officials that 2026 would be a year of consolidation, stressing that although relative peace has returned to many parts of the state, the government will continue to provide security in all areas of Borno.

Beyond security, the Governor highlighted plans for the resettlement of internally displaced persons, noting that the state government would invest in medium- and long-term durable solutions to restore livelihoods.

He also emphasized social protection as a key priority, stating, “Social protection remains central to our agenda as we rebuild Borno for a better future. While we shall not relent in providing social amenities to the great people of the state, the need to provide social protection to our people cannot be overemphasized.”

The meeting was attended by the Secretary to Borno State Government, Bukar Tijani, Acting Chief of Staff, Dr. Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe, and other members of the executive council.

Governor Zulum’s remarks underline the administration’s dual focus on security and socio-economic development as it works to rebuild the state after years of insurgency.
