No fewer than three persons were killed while three others were abducted following a late-night attack by suspected bandits on Bundu Kahugu community in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The attack, which occurred around 11pm on Monday, December 29, 2025, plunged the community into mourning and heightened fears over worsening insecurity in the area.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the National Secretary of the community, Ishaya Dauda, said the assailants invaded the village under the cover of darkness, firing sporadically and terrorizing residents.
“This is the second attack on our community in less than two weeks. The attackers came late at night, started shooting. Three people were killed instantly, while three others were taken away,” Dauda said.

He identified the deceased as Felix Augustine, Luka Yakubu and Ezra Namata, noting that the community had lost four residents in a similar attack barely two weeks earlier.
Residents have appealed to the Kaduna State Government, security agencies to urgently deploy military personnel to the area to prevent further bloodshed.
They also called on telecommunication companies to improve network coverage, saying poor communication has made it easier for attackers to strike, then escape.
“We are pleading with the government to help us. The poor network here is aiding the attackers. We need security presence, improved communication facilities to save our people,” Dauda added.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Kaduna State Police Command were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
