Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has dismissed claims by ex-Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose over a supposed political arrangement with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde at a meeting in Minna. Fayose had alleged that Makinde offered to join the African Democratic Congress as Atiku’s running mate for 2027 and promised ₦10 billion to support the party, deliver delegates.

Atiku’s media aide, Phrank Shaibu, called the story “false and desperate,” saying there were no talks about vice-presidential tickets, money, or delegates. He urged Nigerians to ignore the report, describing it as “insider fiction” by someone seeking attention.

Fayose, however, said he may spill more details if Atiku does not publicly disown the claims within 48 hours.

Meanwhile, the Oyo APC slammed the alleged deal, warning that it could put the state’s finances at risk. The party said Atiku was desperate to contest in 2027 and might again rely on southern Governors’ resources.

The Oyo PDP, on its part, called the APC claims baseless, assuring the public that the state’s resources remain safe, with workers paid, roads and schools upgraded, youths employed. The party said it remained focused on governance, not politics.
