Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic boat accident in Yobe State which claimed several lives, left many families in mourning.
In a condolence message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, Atiku described the incident as heartbreaking, extended his sympathies to families who lost their loved ones in the mishap.
“My heartfelt condolences go to the families who have lost loved ones. I share in your pain at this difficult time,” he said.
The former Vice President also expressed concern for families of victims still missing, offering prayers for strength, comfort, hope as rescue operations continue.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those still missing. May God grant them strength, comfort, and hope,” he added.
Atiku commended the courage and dedication of emergency responders and volunteers involved in the rescue efforts, noting their commitment to saving lives under difficult conditions.
He further noted that the tragedy underscores the urgent need to prioritize safety on inland waterways to prevent avoidable loss of lives, particularly in rural communities.
