The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has dismissed claims of rancor, inequity in its nomination process ahead of the forthcoming party congresses, urging members and stakeholders to remain calm, disregard what it described as unfounded insinuations.
In a press statement dated February 13, 2026, signed by the State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, the party reaffirmed its unity and commitment towards operating strictly in line with its constitution.
The APC clarified that its Executive Committee (Exco) structure remains unchanged, maintaining twenty-seven (27) members per Chapter and Ward. According to the statement, twenty (20) members from the existing structure will remain, while seven (7) new members will be integrated into each structure in the spirit of inclusivity and harmony.
The party explained that the decision followed extensive consultations by its leadership and was aimed at ensuring peaceful accommodation of interests.
It described the move as a strategic integration process designed to strengthen unity and cohesion within the party.
“There is no merger anywhere in the world without inclusivity,” the statement noted, adding that the APC in Akwa Ibom has chosen the path of “enlightened accommodation” to foster togetherness and stability.
The party categorically rejected allegations of marginalization or internal discord, maintaining that the ongoing process is transparent and guided by discipline.
As preparations for the congresses continue, the APC expressed confidence that the restructured Exco will further consolidate its position and enhance its readiness for future political engagements.
