The trial of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, was on Monday, February 23, 2026, stalled due to the defence’s inability to produce its witness.
At the resumed hearing, defence counsel, Femi Atteh, SAN, informed the court that efforts to subpoena the intended witness were unsuccessful because the witness was not available in the office at the time service was attempted.
He consequently applied for additional time to enable the defence secure the witness’s attendance in court.
Justice Omotosho granted the request and adjourned the matter until February 26, 2026, for the defendant to open his defence.
Mamman is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 12-count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit money laundering involving the sum of N33.8bn.
The anti-graft agency alleges that the offences were committed during Mamman’s tenure as Minister of Power. The former minister has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
