AKWA IBOM SOUTH LEADERS ENDORSE SENATOR SAMPSON FOR RE-ELECTION

Prominent stakeholders, community leaders, political movers in Eket Senatorial District have expressed strong approval of Senator Ekong Sampson’s performance in the 10th National Assembly, unanimously endorsing him for a second term in office.

The resolutions were adopted during an End-of-Year Briefing and Stakeholders Meeting in Eket, where Senator Sampson provided a comprehensive update on his legislative and constituency achievements.

The motion for his endorsement was moved by the immediate past Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, seconded by Dr. Owoidighe Ekpotai, former House of Representatives member.

The endorsement received further backing from the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, represented by Ikpoto Okon Osung, who lauded Senator Sampson’s relationship with Governor Umo Eno, urged him to remain resolute in representing his constituents, effectively.

Chairman of Akwa Ibom South Elders Forum and former federal legislator, Chief Nduese Essien, described Senator Sampson as one of the most articulate, active lawmakers, commending his robust engagement on the floor of the Senate and his effectiveness in the trinity mandate of lawmaking, oversight, and representation.

Chief Essien urged stakeholders to prioritize impactful governance, empowerment, and job creation over mere infrastructural projects.

Other notable stakeholders, including Architect Otu Ita Toyo, Barr Ekpong Edemumoh, Dr. Idorenyin Umoh, Dr. Owoidighe Ekpotai, Họn. Bassey Dan Abia, Prof. Peter Esuh, lauded Senator Sampson’s development-driven representation, noting that under his leadership, Akwa Ibom South has witnessed significant progress in infrastructure, human capacity development, and empowerment initiatives.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Sampson highlighted his legislative and constituency achievements, cited key sponsored and co-sponsored bills, including:
•Establishment of Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (awaiting third reading)
•Federal Medical Centers Amendment Bill (passed into law)
•Establishment of Federal Medical Center, Eket (second reading)
•Co-sponsorship and passage of the South-South Development Commission Bill
•Advocacy for the take-off of Federal University of Maritime Studies, Oron

He further detailed his constituency interventions across the 12 Local Government Areas, including:
•N100 million education grants for 500 students and 25 teachers
•Massive empowerment and training programs, with employment of over 40 constituents in federal MDAs
•Donations of over N250 million, vehicles, motorcycles, and business grants to constituents, physically challenged individuals, and APC party structures
•Erosion control projects in Ekeya, Okobo, and electrification projects in Ikot Akpandem, Okon Eket, and Eyobiasang
•Provision of solar-powered boreholes and lighting, construction of ICT/computer-based test centers in Mkpat Enin, Ikot Ataku, and Oti Oro
•Construction of staff quarters, hostels, school blocks, and medical facilities at Excellence College, Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi, Immanuel Hospital Eket, General Hospital Ikot Abasi, and General Hospital, Iquita – Oron

Senator Sampson also announced the second phase of his empowerment initiative, promising the distribution of cars, minibuses, motorcycles, outboard engines, business grants and cash to constituents.

He took the opportunity to reaffirm support for President Bola Tinubu, Senator Goodwill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno beyond 2027.
