Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced plans to commemorate the 2026 Police Day with a series of activities aimed at strengthening community relations and promoting public safety across the state.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said the week-long event, on the theme “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” will highlight the role of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining peace and security.

According to the statement, activities lined up for the celebration include community-based outreach programmes such as environmental sanitation exercises and medical services for residents in selected areas.

The Command also plans to organise a walkathon involving officers to promote unity, visibility, and engagement with the public.

As part of efforts to enhance public awareness, the police will conduct sensitisation campaigns focusing on the prevention of electoral violence and other related offences. Road users will also be educated on safe driving practices and adherence to traffic regulations.

The programme will further feature the presentation of welfare cheques to families of fallen officers, in recognition of their sacrifices and as part of ongoing support for their loved ones.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Baba Mohammed Azare, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property, stressing the importance of sustained collaboration between the police and the public in tackling crime.

The celebration will culminate in a grand finale scheduled for April 7, 2026, in Abuja.

The Command called on residents of the state to participate actively in the activities and join in honouring the dedication and service of officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
