In a significant breakthrough against criminal activities, Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber, recovered ammunition and other items from him, the command announced on Wednesday.
The suspect, 27-year-old Wisdom Eyo, a native of Afaha Obong in Abak Local Government Area, was apprehended in the early hours of the day at about 4:50am following credible intelligence provided to the police.
Items recovered from the suspect include:
• One face mask
• Three rounds of 9mm ammunition
• One round of 7.5mm ammunition
• Items suspected to be charms
• Large motor bearings
• One pen knife
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly acquired the ammunition while outside the state, specifically in Edo and Bayelsa States.
According to the police, Eyo has given useful statements, investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of his activities and identify possible accomplices.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said the arrest highlights the command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-led policing and the protection of lives and property across Akwa Ibom State.
He urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to assist law enforcement efforts.
The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s dedication to maintaining security in the state and ensuring that criminal elements are swiftly brought to justice.
