Akwa Ibom State Police Command has made a major breakthrough in the investigation of a suspected armed robbery and murder case in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of a murdered motorcyclist.
The case dates back to November 11, 2025, when the Command received reports that an unidentified commercial motorcyclist was cornered at Ikot Esop Village, robbed of his motorcycle, and subsequently went missing.
Investigators immediately launched a probe to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
After months of sustained intelligence gathering, the police on Friday, February 6, 2026, around 12:00 noon, arrested Emmanuel Silas, a male suspect, in connection with the crime.
Following his arrest, the suspect provided information that led operatives to the scene of the crime, where the victim was found to have been murdered and buried in a shallow grave.
The remains were exhumed, photographed, and preserved for forensic examination and possible autopsy.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, who confirmed the incident stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the crime, recover the stolen motorcycle, and apprehend other suspected accomplices who remain at large.
She assured the public that all individuals involved in the heinous act would be brought to justice and reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across the State.
