Member representing Essien Udim State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Prince Ukpong Akpabio II, has called on Nigerians to make it a culture to celebrate and recognize individuals who contribute meaningfully to societal growth while they are still alive.
Prince Akpabio II made the appeal when he received members of the Planning Committee for this year’s Essien Udim Thanksgiving, Honours and Awards, scheduled for Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Afaha Ikot Ebak.
Speaking during the courtesy visit, Prince Akpabio II endorsed the initiative, describing it as a welcome development and a noble vision that strengthens communal bonds and encouraged the committee to consider making the event an annual tradition.
According to the lawmaker, celebrating achievers inspires them to do more and serves as motivation for others.
In her remarks, leader of the delegation and Chairman, Contact Committee of the group, Mrs. Iniobong Otong articulated the philosophical foundations of the event, including the pursuit of communal harmony, celebration of excellence and recognition of illustrious sons and daughters who have made meaningful contributions to the socio-economic advancement of Essien Udim.
She briefed the lawmaker on ongoing mobilisation efforts, including planned community engagements designed to ensure broad participation and conveyed the committee’s request for his partnership as preparations advance toward honouring distinguished achievers such as the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno and other notable dignitaries.
