Member representing Uyo/Uruan/Nsit Atai/Ibesikpo Asutan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Mark Udo Esset, has issued a public apology to the people of Ikot Ekpene following misinterpretations of a recent speech he made.
In a statement released on Friday, Mr. Esset clarified that he had incorrectly stated that Blessing Osom is from Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area in relation to marriage, describing the information as factually wrong.
He further emphasized that his remarks were not intended to malign, insult, or undermine the dignity and integrity of women from Ikot Ekpene, and that any interpretation suggesting otherwise was a misunderstanding.
“I hold the entirety of women in high regard, remain committed to respectful and issue-based public discourse,” he said.
Mr. Esset expressed regret for any discomfort or misunderstanding his earlier remarks may have caused the people of Ikot Ekpene, the general public, and formally apologized for the error.
