The Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), Akwa Ibom State Branch, Dr. Rosalyn Essien, FICMC, on Tuesday led a delegation of the Institute to Ukanafun Local Government Council for a capacity-building training on peace building and conflict management for traditional rulers.
The event had in attendance, the Paramount Ruler of Ukanafun, other traditional rulers, Head of Service of the Local Government, directors in the council, as well as women leaders from across the area.
In her remarks, Dr. Essien said the Institute organized the training to strengthen grassroots conflict resolution mechanisms and to support the good developmental efforts of the member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem.
She emphasized the critical role traditional institutions play in fostering peace and stability, noting that equipping them with modern mediation skills would further enhance communal harmony and effective leadership.
