AKWA IBOM FIRST LADY CELEBRATES COMPTROLLER ODIKA AT RETIREMENT

The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has paid glowing tribute to the retiring Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Akwa Ibom State Command, CIS Agatha Ginika Odika, describing her as a disciplined officer and true patriot.

Lady Obareki made the remarks on Thursday, April 2, 2026, during Odika’s retirement ceremony held at the NIS State Command headquarters in Atan Offot, Uyo. She was represented at the event by the Member representing Uruan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Dr. Itoro Etim.

Speaking at the ceremony, Obareki commended the retiring Comptroller for her years of meritorious service, noting that her career reflects dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to national security.

“I am delighted to join this gathering of distinguished personalities in celebrating the meritorious exit of a woman of substance, a disciplined officer, a true patriot,” she said.

She further praised Odika’s professionalism and human-centred approach to migration management, adding that her leadership strengthened border security and enhanced operational efficiency within the command.

“In a sector that demands both toughness and tact, Comptroller Odika has demonstrated that excellence knows no gender,” she noted, describing her legacy as one rooted in integrity and excellence.

Obareki also highlighted the retiring Comptroller’s career as a source of inspiration to young women, stating that her achievements demonstrate that discipline and determination can break barriers in high-pressure leadership roles.

Reaffirming government’s commitment to security, she noted that the administration of Governor Umo Eno, through the ARISE Agenda, places high priority on the rule of law and collaboration with federal security agencies.

She wished Odika a fulfilling retirement, praying for good health and greater accomplishments in the next phase of her life.

The event featured goodwill messages, award presentations to stakeholders and security agencies, a drama presentation by NIS officers, and cultural performances.

CIS Odika, who assumed duty in Akwa Ibom as the 23rd Comptroller in October 2024, is set to retire on April 5, 2026, after 35 years of distinguished service.
