The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, has distanced itself from a circulating notice inviting members of the party to a purported “Leadership Meeting” scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Chapel Villa in Uyo.

In an official disclaimer signed by the State Chairman, Hon. Duke Gabriel Dick, the party described the notice as unauthorized and misleading, urging members and the general public to disregard it.

According to the statement, the notice did not emanate from the state leadership, stakeholders, or any recognized organ of the party in Akwa Ibom State.

“For the avoidance of doubt, there is no well-constituted ‘Leadership Committee’ of the ADC in Akwa Ibom State, and there is no officially recognized committee secretary or chairman operating under such a structure,” the statement read.

The party clarified that the State Chairman, State Secretary, and the State Executive Committee (EXCO) remain the only legitimate authorities empowered to convene official meetings of the party in the state.

The statement further explained that although a Leadership Committee had previously been proposed, it was not constitutionally recognized and was given a three-month lifespan, which has already elapsed.

It added that the committee was also stood down during the last ADC stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja, and therefore no longer holds any recognition in the state.

The party described the circulating notice as a deliberate attempt to create confusion and disunity among members, particularly at a time when cohesion within the party is essential.

Members of the ADC in the state were advised to disregard the invitation and rely only on official information issued by the recognized state leadership.

Hon. Dick also noted that in line with resolutions reached at the Abuja stakeholders’ meeting, party stakeholders in the state would be formally invited at the appropriate time to deliberate on key issues, including membership registration and other party matters.

He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to discipline, unity, and the orderly growth of the ADC in Akwa Ibom State.
