Senegal have booked their place in the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after edging Egypt one – nil in a tense semi-final clash on Wednesday night in Tangiers.
Star forward Sadio Mané struck the decisive goal in the 78th minute, capitalizing on Senegal’s sustained pressure to break the resistance of a disciplined Egyptian side.
Former champions Senegal dominated possession for much of the encounter, pinning Egypt back with patient build-up play, while the Pharaohs adopted a cautious approach, relying on defensive organization and counter-attacks.
Despite Egypt’s resilience, Mané’s late strike proved enough to separate both sides and secure Senegal’s passage to the final.
With the victory, Senegal will now face either hosts Morocco or Nigeria in Sunday’s final as they chase another continental crown.
Egypt, meanwhile, will turn their attention to the third-place playoff after falling short in their bid to reach the final.
