The Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, has stated that Iran does not have the authority to control, restrict navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Al Jaber said the waterway has never been under the control of any single country and should remain open for international navigation.

He noted that any disruption to activities in the strait would have significant implications for global energy supply as well as food and health security.

According to him, allowing restrictions on such a critical route would create a precedent with wider global consequences.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important maritime routes, serving as a key passage for a large share of global oil shipments.

The statement comes amid ongoing tensions in the region involving Iran, the United States and its allies, with concerns over maritime security and energy supply continuing to shape developments.
