The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the All Progressives Congress have traded words over alleged preferential siting of projects in the Governor’s hometown.
The opposition APC accused the Adeleke administration of concentrating infrastructure and development projects in Ede, the Governor’s hometown, at the expense of other parts of the state.
In a statement, the party alleged that the pattern of project allocation reflected bias and called on the Governor to ensure equitable distribution of government resources across all local government areas.
The APC maintained that governance should not be influenced by personal or political considerations, urging the administration to prioritise fairness and inclusiveness.
However, the state government dismissed the allegation, insisting that projects were being executed across the state based on needs assessment and available resources.
The Governor’s camp argued that several road constructions, school renovations, and healthcare interventions were ongoing in different senatorial districts, not just in Ede.
It added that the administration remained committed to balanced development and accused the opposition of attempting to politicise routine government activities.
The exchange marks the latest in a series of disagreements between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the APC in the state over governance and project implementation.
