The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports suggesting that its National Chairman, Senator David Mark, has resigned from his position, describing the claims as false and deliberately misleading.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Media Office of the National Chairman, the party said the reports circulating in some quarters were fabricated and aimed at creating confusion within the ADC.
The statement stressed that Mark remains firmly in charge of the party’s leadership and has not indicated any intention to step down.
According to the statement, the resignation claim is “an insidious fabrication” allegedly spread by individuals attempting to destabilize the party.
“The assertion that Senator David Mark has stepped down exists only in the imagination of those bent on spreading falsehood and creating confusion within our party,” the statement said.
The party maintained that its leadership remains united and focused on strengthening its structures and expanding its political influence across the country.
ADC officials also warned against attempts to undermine the party, arguing that such actions are driven by concerns over the party’s growing relevance and the evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The ADC, its leadership, and the majority of Nigerians remain determined to resist any attempt to weaken Nigeria’s multi-party democracy or impose a one-party system,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment to democratic principles, the party urged Nigerians to disregard the rumours, remain confident in the stability and leadership of the ADC.
Senator David Mark, a former President of the Senate, currently serves as the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress.
