The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially denounced Senator John Akpanudoedehe, describing him as an “imposter” with no authority to summon party meetings.
This was contained in a statement, issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Barr. Manfred Ekpe, released on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
According to the ADC, a notice calling for a meeting of party faithfuls, signed by Prince Uwemedimo Essien JP, was allegedly issued at the behest of Senator Akpanudoedehe.
The party questioned his authority to do so, asserting that only the State Chairman has the legal power to convene meetings within the state.

“The law is clear. Only the State Chairman can summon Party meetings in the state,” the statement read. “Senator Akpanudoedehe, who has boasted since July 2024 of removing the state party chairman, Hon. Duke Gabriel Dick, and imposing his own choice, has failed. His latest move only worsens his position.”
The ADC directed all members to shun the purported meeting, warning that any decisions taken there would have no legal standing. Members attending, aside from what the party described as “accredited infiltrators,” risk being considered disloyal and barred from contesting upcoming party congresses.
The release also referenced the failed attempt by Akpanudoedehe and his allies to conduct ward and local government congresses on April 9, 2026, which were nullified by Hon. Duke Gabriel Dick in compliance with a subsisting court order. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reportedly honored the state chairman’s directive by not monitoring the congresses.

Barr. Manfred Ekpe emphasized that the party considers the senator’s actions unauthorized, warned members to take note of the official leadership structure.
