Adamawa State Police Command has heightened security across the state ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled visit on Monday to commission key projects executed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the security measures were aimed at ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free visit, as well as safeguarding residents before, during and after the President’s arrival.

He disclosed that the Command had been placed on high alert, with the deployment of personnel and operational assets to strategic locations across the state.

“The Adamawa State Police Command has indeed been placed on high alert ahead of the President’s visit and has deployed its manpower, operational assets to all nooks and crannies of the state,” the statement said.

Nguroje noted that the Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris, had convened a strategic meeting with security commanders and senior officers to review and strengthen existing security arrangements.

He added that specialized units, including the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Surveillance Squad, and Crowd and Traffic Control Unit, had been mobilised to conduct covert surveillance and maintain law and order.

According to the statement, security operatives have also identified flashpoints in Yola South and Yola North Local Government Areas, where enhanced surveillance and patrols are ongoing.

Additional measures include traffic restrictions in certain areas, deployment of anti-bomb squads to sweep event venues and access routes, as well as confidence-building patrols to reassure residents.

The Police Command said it was working closely with other security agencies to ensure maximum security throughout the visit.
