Nigeria international, Precious Achiuwa delivered a standout performance, recording a double-double to help the Sacramento Kings defeat the Los Angeles Clippers 118-109 in an NBA matchup on Sunday.
The D’Tigers star scored 25 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, added one assist, and blocked four shots, a season-high across 37 minutes. Achiuwa shot 10-of-14 from the field, including three of four from three-point range, and made both free throws in an all-around display that proved decisive for Sacramento.
Sacramento was led in scoring by DeMar DeRozan with 27 points, while Russell Westbrook recorded his 209th career triple-double, finishing with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. Maxime Raynaud contributed 23 points, and Daeqwon Plowden added 15, as the Kings secured their third win in four games.
The contest remained closely contested early, tied at 39 midway through the second quarter, before Sacramento surged to a 68-54 halftime lead. The Kings extended the advantage to 20 points in the third quarter with a three-pointer from Plowden, making it 90-70.
The Clippers mounted a late fourth-quarter rally, narrowing the gap to 103-100 with just over four minutes remaining. However, Sacramento outscored Los Angeles 15-9 in the final stretch to seal the win.
Achiuwa’s influence has steadily grown, making him a key figure in Sacramento’s starting lineup. Over his last 14 starts, the Memphis product has averaged 15.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game.
Signed a few games into the 2025–26 season on a veteran minimum contract, Achiuwa will become an unrestricted free agent at season’s end, with his future in Sacramento likely a priority decision for the front office.
The Kings will next host the Utah Jazz, while the Clippers return home to face the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.
