Abductors of two residents of Ora Igbomina, a community in Osun State bordering Kwara State, have demanded a ransom of ₦100 million for the release of their victims.

The victims, Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi, were kidnapped on Sunday, February 1, during a late-night attack on a private residence along Aran–Orin Road in the Papa area of the town.

Residents said the assailants, suspected to be bandits, struck shortly before midnight, storming the house and firing shots into the air to scare residents before whisking the two men away into the bush.

Following the incident, the Osun State Police Command announced the launch of a manhunt for the perpetrators.

However, sources close to the families of the victims disclosed that the kidnappers have since made contact and demanded a ransom of ₦100 million for their release.

“They called us through the mobile line of one of the two men they abducted and placed a ransom of ₦100 million before us. We don’t have that kind of money. We are praying they will reduce the amount,” one of the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said.

When contacted for an update, the Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said search-and-rescue operations were still ongoing but noted that the command had not been officially informed of any ransom demand.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gothan, had ordered additional deployment of security personnel to the community to aid the rescue of the victims.

Ora Igbomina has experienced repeated attacks by suspected bandits, who often access the community through the porous boundary with Kwara State.

The latest abduction has heightened fear among residents, coming less than two months after a former Customs officer, Emmanuel Owolabi, was kidnapped in front of his residence in the same community.

Owolabi was abducted on December 15, 2025, and later released on January 12 in Oro Ago, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, after his family reportedly paid a ransom running into millions of naira.
