Sokoto Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of Abdulrahman Abdullahi, also known as A.A. Sabo, and Bashir Muhammad for offences bordering on impersonation, obtaining by false pretence, internet-related fraud, and cheating.

The convictions were handed down on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, by the Sokoto State High Court. Abdullahi and Muhammad were arraigned separately on one-count charges before Justice Abubakar Adamu and Justice Muhammad Bargaja, respectively.

The EFCC told the court that the offences were committed through fraudulent representations intended to deceive unsuspecting victims for personal gain. After reviewing the evidence presented by the prosecution, the courts found both defendants guilty as charged.

The EFCC described the convictions as part of its sustained efforts to combat economic and financial crimes, particularly internet-related fraud, within Sokoto State and beyond.
