The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Ejim-Emekah, has pledged renewed collaboration between the Army and Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) to further strengthen security infrastructure across the Niger Delta and boost Nigeria’s crude oil production.
Ejim-Emekah made the pledge on Wednesday at Effurun Barracks, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, during the commissioning of newly reconstructed and furnished headquarters of Sector 1, Joint Task Force South-South, Operation Delta Safe, and the 3 Battalion Headquarters, projects sponsored by Tantita.
The facilities include 13 newly constructed offices at the 3 Battalion Headquarters and the remodelling of 22 offices within Sector 1 facilities.
The GOC, who is also the Land Component Commander, JTF Operation Delta Safe, said sustained collaboration among the Nigerian Army, Tantita, and other security agencies has contributed significantly to improved protection of critical oil and gas infrastructure, leading to a gradual increase in crude oil output.
“Partnerships with credible private-sector operators such as Tantita have strengthened the capacity of troops to combat oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and economic sabotage in the Niger Delta,” Ejim-Emekah said.
He commended Tantita for extending its support beyond Delta State to Rivers and Bayelsa States, noting that the newly commissioned facilities would enhance command, control, and administrative efficiency.
The project was conceptualised by the Commander, 63 Brigade and Sector 1 JTF, Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, and executed as part of Tantita’s corporate social responsibility.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of Tantita, High Chief Kestin Pondi, described collaboration between public and private institutions as essential to sustainable security. He said Tantita has worked closely with security agencies since its engagement by NNPC Limited in August 2022 to curb oil theft and pipeline vandalism.
Pondi noted that the project, which began in August 2025, was completed in record time and represents investment not just in infrastructure, but in operational readiness and personnel capacity.
