The Acting Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Colonel Appolonia Anele, has charged participants of the First Quarter 2026 courses at the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) to fully prepare for the greater responsibilities that lie ahead as their training officially commenced.
Colonel Anele delivered the charge during the formal inauguration ceremony held at the Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja Auditorium, Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri, Abuja. Represented by the Acting Commandant of NASPRI, Lt Colonel Shuaib Umar, he emphasized that modern counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in Nigeria are largely information-driven. This reality, he said, informed the careful design of the courses, which aim to equip participants with the mindset, skills, and professionalism required to effectively manage information in today’s complex security environment.
He urged students to take full advantage of the wealth of experience offered by the school’s instructors, stressing that commitment, focus, and active participation would be key to achieving the desired training outcomes. Colonel Anele also cautioned the participants to maintain discipline at all times, strictly adhere to the school’s Standard Operating Procedures, and uphold the core values of the Nigerian Army, noting that NASPRI enforces a zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline.
In his remarks, the Acting Commandant expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for the continuous support and confidence reposed in NASPRI, which he said has significantly strengthened the school’s capacity to carry out its mandate. He also extended appreciation to the Director of Army Public Relations for the sustained support enjoyed by the school.
Earlier in the ceremony, NASPRI’s Chief Instructor, Major Nureni Alimi, outlined the expectations of the courses, noting that the programmes are prerequisites for career progression within the Nigerian Army. He encouraged students to remain focused, participate actively in all training activities, and diligently fulfill all course requirements.
The First Quarter 2026 courses include the Strategic Communication Course 3, A1 Photography Course 10, and A3 Video Operations Course 17. Highlights of the event included the formal inauguration of the courses and group photographs featuring the Acting Commandant and the newly inaugurated students in front of the NASPRI office complex.
