Governor Umo Eno has reiterated his commitment to advancing peace, unity and sustainable development in the State, noting that meaningful progress can only endure when built on the foundations of love, harmony and collective purpose.
The Governor stated this Thursday night when he led key stakeholders of All Progressives Congress (APC) on a courtesy visit to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, at his Shelter Afrique residence in Uyo.
Governor Eno explained that the visit was to inform the Senate President of the decision by former Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem, SAN, to defect to the ruling APC.
He described the move as a reunion that aligns with his administration’s vision of leading a united state, sustaining peace and consolidating progress.
The Governor commended Barrister Enoidem for what he described as a bold and strategic decision, adding that the development would strengthen synergy and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and the APC family in Akwa Ibom State.
Receiving Barrister Enoidem on behalf of President Tinubu, Senator Akpabio described the development as a “great re-union.”
The Senate President urged the new APC member to work closely with party leadership to sustain the prevailing peace in Abak, Ika and Etim Ekpo axis, and across Akwa Ibom State, in the interest of development and prosperity.
State Chairman of APC, Mr. Stephen Ntok-Ekpo, noted that the unification efforts initiated by Governor Umo Eno were yielding positive results, as more prominent political figures continued to align with the ruling party.
In his remarks, Emmanuel Enoidem, SAN, paid glowing tribute to Governor Umo Eno, describing him as a father figure and a divinely inspired instrument of peace who has worked tirelessly to unite all segments of Akwa Ibom State since assuming office.
He expressed appreciation to the Senate President, the leadership of the APC, assuring them of his commitment to support the party and work for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the return of Senator Akpabio to the National Assembly, and the second-term aspiration of Governor Umo Eno.
