SGF APPOINTS TWO DEPUTY CORPS MARSHALS FOR SOUTH EAST, NORTH EAST

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has approved the appointment of two senior officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) as Deputy Corps Marshals (DCM) for the South East and North East geopolitical zones.

The appointments involve the elevation of two Assistant Corps Marshals as part of efforts to strengthen leadership capacity, enhance operational effectiveness and consolidate road safety management across the country.

The newly appointed officers are DCM Hyginus Omeje, who currently heads the Operations Department, and DCM Mark Sabiya, who oversees the Department of Finance and Accounts at the FRSC National Headquarters.

According to the SGF, the appointments were guided by the need to deploy experienced, disciplined and performance-oriented officers to strategic command positions in order to improve service delivery, strengthen national road safety management.

Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps described the appointments as timely and well-considered, noting that they reinforce the Corps’ leadership structure at a critical point in Nigeria’s road safety efforts.

He said the two officers have distinguished themselves through years of exemplary service, operational excellence and commitment to the ideals of the Corps, adding that their elevation would enhance command effectiveness, stakeholder engagement and the implementation of targeted safety interventions nationwide.

The Corps Marshal also urged the new Deputy Corps Marshals to deploy their wealth of experience in addressing traffic management and road safety challenges in their respective zones.
