Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested six suspected armed robbers linked to a series of violent attacks on nightclubs and recreational centres across Abuja.
The arrests followed a discreet, intelligence-led operation carried out on Friday, January 17, 2026, at about 5:45p.m., according to a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.
Adeh said the operation was initiated after the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, received credible intelligence about the activities of the criminal gang and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to ensure their immediate arrest.
“Consequently, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, SCID, DCP Aliyu Abubakar, deployed a discreet intelligence-led operation led by ACP Victor Godfrey, Commander of the Scorpion Squad,” the statement said.
Police operatives subsequently tracked and raided the gang’s hideout at Dakwa, Dei-Dei area of the FCT, where the suspects were apprehended while allegedly planning another attack.
The arrested suspects were identified as Suleiman Magaji (25), Abdullahi Abubakar (20), Abubakar Shitu (25), Sani Ibrahim (17), Rabiu Dahiru (19), and Ahmen Abdullahi (26).
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were responsible for several armed robbery incidents within the FCT, including a recent attack at Crystal Lounge, Wuse II, where hotel guest was dispossessed of gold jewellery valued at about ₦15 million.
Police said the items were later sold for ₦1.2 million.
