At the invitation of His Highness Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu attended Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, where he witnessed the signing of the Nigeria-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement alongside the President of the UAE.
The agreement marks the culmination of sustained negotiations led by Minister Dr. Jumoke Oduwole for Nigeria and Minister Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi for the UAE. President Tinubu commended both ministers and their teams for their clarity, discipline, and dedication in bringing the discussions to a successful conclusion.
According to the President, the agreement will have tangible benefits for Nigerians, including duty-free access for thousands of Nigerian products into the UAE, expanded opportunities for exporters, manufacturers, and service providers, and increased confidence for UAE investors to support Nigeria’s productive economy.
The partnership is designed to support Nigeria’s industrialization and diversification goals, while positioning the country as a strategic gateway for trade and investment into Africa.
“This is the work of economic reform, purposeful engagement, and measured partnerships. The outcomes will serve Nigeria’s long-term national interest,” President Tinubu said.
He concluded with the expression of hope, that the renewed relationship between Nigeria and the UAE will continue to deliver sustained dividends for both nations and their peoples.
