The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi has debunked reports circulating on social media alleging that she sponsored a Bill pending before the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

In a statement issued on Monday by her Press Secretary, Senator Eyakenyi said she had not sponsored any Bill in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly or any other legislative chamber and is not aware of the existence of the purported Bill, which has been falsely attributed to her.

The statement explained that as a member of the State Executive Council, the Deputy Governor does not independently sponsor Bills. Rather, all executive Bills must be deliberated upon and approved by the Executive Council before being transmitted to the State House of Assembly by the Governor or an authorized representative.

The office further noted that the misleading report did not originate from any official communication channel of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly or Akwa Ibom State Government.
