The military authorities in Burkina Faso say they have thwarted an alleged plot to assassinate President Ibrahim Traore and destabilize the country.
Security Minister, Mahamadou Sana said the plan was masterminded by a former head of state, Paul Henri Damiba, who was ousted by Captain Traore in 2022. He alleged that the plot was financed from Ivory Coast.
There has been no response from Ivory Coast or Lieutenant Colonel Damiba, regarding the accusations.
Burkina Faso has experienced several attempted coups since Captain Traore came to power, with the government repeatedly accusing Ivory Coast of involvement in efforts to undermine the administration.
