One person sustained severe injuries while 15 others escaped unhurt in a road accident on the Osogbo–Gbongan Expressway on Friday.

Osun Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adegboyega Leye, disclosed the incident in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Agnes Ogungbemi.

According to Leye, the accident occurred at about 3:45p.m. along the Gbongan–Ode Omu Grammar School axis.

He explained that a white commercial bus lost control after a tyre burst, a situation worsened by excessive speed.

“There were 16 passengers on board. Only one sustained severe injuries, while the remaining 15 escaped unhurt,” the sector commander said.

The injured victim was taken to an undisclosed hospital in Gbongan for medical attention, while the bus was confiscated by the FRSC rescue team.

Leye used the incident to warn motorists against speeding and reckless driving, stressing that such behavior often leads to loss of lives and property on highways.
