A man has died after reportedly entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in northern England, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The incident occurred on Saturday at the wildlife park near Doncaster, with emergency services alerted at approximately 1:35 p.m.

According to South Yorkshire Police, emergency responders attended the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at the park.

Police confirmed that the tiger remained inside its enclosure and was not injured during the incident.

Visitors were evacuated from the wildlife park as emergency personnel and police officers responded to the situation.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park said it was cooperating with the relevant authorities to establish how the man entered the enclosure and the circumstances that led to his death.

The wildlife park, which opened in 2009, introduced its Land of the Tigers attraction in 2011.

The attraction features a purpose-built habitat covering approximately two acres for endangered Amur tigers, also known as Siberian tigers.

It includes a raised visitor walkway extending approximately 300 yards, providing views of the animals within an environment featuring woodland, grassland and a waterfall pool.

Police officers remained at the park on Saturday evening as investigations continued.

Authorities have not publicly established why the man entered the enclosure or how he gained access.

The investigation is expected to examine the circumstances of the incident, including the safety arrangements surrounding the enclosure.
