Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has ordered an immediate cessation of hostilities between Aguleri and Umuoba Anam communities in Anambra East Local Government Area following a clash that reportedly resulted in deaths and injuries.
Soludo expressed concern over the violence and directed residents of both communities to refrain from further confrontation while the state government moves to address the dispute.

The governor has convened an emergency peace and security meeting involving key stakeholders from Aguleri and Umuoba Anam for Wednesday, October 7, at the Light House in Awka.
He urged both communities to exercise restraint and channel their grievances, claims and concerns through their designated representatives at the meeting rather than resorting to violence.
Soludo also directed security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, to strengthen their presence in the affected communities to protect lives and property and prevent further clashes.

The governor said his administration remained committed to resolving communal disputes through dialogue and peaceful engagement.
He appealed to residents and stakeholders in both communities to cooperate with security agencies and the state government’s peace efforts as authorities work towards restoring calm and preventing further loss of lives.
