Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has met with Nigeria music star Burna Boy to discuss how the creative industry can contribute to efforts to strengthen public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force, particularly among young Nigerians.
The meeting focused on possible collaboration between the Police and Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with discussions centred on the influence of music, culture and prominent creative figures in shaping public perceptions and improving relations between law enforcement agencies and communities.
Disu emphasised the importance of partnerships with different sections of society as part of efforts to reposition the Police and strengthen public trust in the institution.
He also highlighted the potential of Nigeria’s creative economy, often described as the Orange Economy, to provide opportunities for young people while serving as a platform for greater engagement between the Police and the public.

The Police chief said collaboration with influential figures in entertainment could support broader efforts to improve communication and engagement with young Nigerians.
Burna Boy expressed support for the initiative and indicated his willingness to contribute to efforts aimed at improving relations between the Police and the public.
The engagement forms part of broader discussions around the role that musicians, filmmakers, media professionals, civil society groups and other influential stakeholders can play in strengthening dialogue between security institutions and communities.
While the meeting did not itself establish specific reforms or programmes, it opened discussions on potential cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and the creative industry in areas of public engagement, youth relations and confidence-building.
