Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has empowered 55 constituents in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area with millions of naira in business grants to enhance their economic well-being and positively impact their families and communities.
Addressing a mammoth crowd at his country home in Ikot Ekpene Udo, where he hosted the people, the Governor restated his determination to drive economic transformation through periodic business-support interventions.
Governor Eno explained that the beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme were carefully selected from the eleven wards of the Local Government Area, adding that the programme would be sustained periodically to ensure wider inclusion.

During the maiden engagement, each beneficiary received a cheque of ₦.5m to invest in any legitimate business of their choice.
“With this ₦500,000 given to you today, ensure you put it to productive use for your growth and well-being, in a way that will positively impact your family and communities.” He advised.

The Governor also reaffirmed his commitment to “bringing infrastructural development home,” noting that several roads in the area have been approved for immediate construction, alongside solar-lighting projects, to restore the area’s pride of place.

The economic empowerment drive received additional boosts from members of the State Executive Council, state and national legislators, industry leaders, local government chairmen, and other dignitaries who attended the event.

Many of them also made donations to support the initiative and extend its reach to more beneficiaries.

Earlier, the Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government, Mr. Alfred Charles, thanked the Governor for his impactful homecoming programme and assured him of the people’s continued support for the ARISE Agenda and pledged their unwavering commitment to return him to office in 2027.

In their separate goodwill messages, the APC Chapter Chairman, Hon. Johnson Udoka; Senator Aniekan Bassey; Obong Paul Bassey; Hon. Otobong Bob; Hon. Emmanuel Ibiok; Senator Effiong Bob, and numerous others praised Governor Eno for his exceptional love and care for his people, propelled by visionary and pragmatic leadership. They unanimously reaffirmed their support for the Governor and for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of 2027.
A high point of the event was the inspiring testimony of a young graduate whose life was transformed after a moment of encouragement from Governor Eno about five years ago.
