Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged northern-based professionals in the creative industry to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general election.
Shettima made the call on Wednesday in Abuja while receiving a delegation of Northern Performing Artists under the auspices of Triple-R For Renewed Hope at the All Progressives Congress campaign office.
The Vice President said the North should support Tinubu in the interest of what he described as fairness and national unity, while assuring creative professionals that the Federal Government would continue to support the development of the entertainment industry in the region.
He said the administration’s creative economy initiatives were intended to provide opportunities for northern artists, filmmakers and musicians to expand their businesses, preserve cultural heritage and create employment.
Shettima urged the artists to remain supportive of the administration and the APC, expressing confidence that the effects of the government’s economic reforms and other policies would become more evident across different sectors.
Earlier, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, said the campaign for Tinubu’s re-election would focus on the administration’s record and achievements.
Yari also rejected claims by political opponents that the North had been marginalised in federal appointments and projects, maintaining that the region had received attention under the administration.
Former Katsina State Governor and Deputy Director-General of Parliamentary Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Aminu Bello Masari, thanked the creative professionals for declaring their support for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Masari said government policies and programmes were creating opportunities in the creative industry and encouraged practitioners to take advantage of available initiatives.
Former Kano State Governor and former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje also thanked the group for its support and called for greater investment in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, particularly in infrastructure and training for emerging talents in the North.
President of Triple-R For Renewed Hope, Dauda Kahutu Rarara, pledged the group’s support for Tinubu’s re-election and APC candidates across northern states.
Rarara said northern creative professionals were committed to working together in support of the President and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The group’s National Chairman, Lawan Ahmad, and Secretary, Ahmad Bifa, also pledged to mobilise support for Tinubu and APC candidates.
They called for increased Federal Government support for the development of the creative industry in northern Nigeria, including improved infrastructure and measures to enhance the welfare of practitioners.
