Several United States military aircraft were damaged during overnight strikes on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, according to a report by CBS News correspondent Jennifer Jacobs.
The strikes reportedly hit the base, which hosts U.S. military operations, damaging multiple aircraft. An A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft, commonly known as the “Warthog,” was struck and suffered significant damage, including a missing wing.
About eight F-15 fighter jets also sustained minor damage but were later returned to service, according to the report shared by Jacobs on social media platform X.
The incident comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, following a series of military exchanges involving the United States, Iran and regional allies.
Jordan has previously reported intercepting Iranian missiles targeting its territory, while Washington and Tehran have intensified strikes against each other’s military and strategic assets.
U.S. officials have not immediately released further details about the extent of the damage or whether there were any casualties among personnel at the base.
