Two Nigerians, Lukman Owolabi Ganiyu, a former senior officer with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and Adeniyi Akeem Somoye, have been arrested in the United States over allegations of involvement in an immigration fraud scheme.
Authorities allege that the suspects received illegal payments in exchange for manipulating and expediting immigration applications.
Ganiyu, who previously held a senior position with USCIS, is accused of using his official access and influence to interfere with the processing of immigration cases, according to allegations by US authorities.
Somoye was also arrested in connection with the alleged scheme, though details of the specific charges against him were not immediately disclosed.
