Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has assured residents of Itiam Street and its environs in Uyo of a permanent solution to the persistent flooding in the area.

The Governor gave assurance during the Monthly Government House Prayer Service held today, 15th November, 2025 at The Latter Rain Chapel, Government House.

He explained that the flooding challenge at Itiam Street requires a comprehensive and well-structured drainage system, stressing that mere asphalt works would continue to be swept away by stormwater if the root problem is not addressed.

Governor Eno further disclosed that potholes along affected areas already completely scooped out, will be repaired immediately after the rainy season to ensure durable and long-lasting results.

Addressing residents of Itiam Street and the people of Use Ikot Amama, the Governor stated: “We have heard your pleas. Be rest assured that a comprehensive drainage project is on its way to solving the problem. For Use Ikot Amama people, I want to assure you that the contractors have not abandoned the project. We are faced with heavy rainfall even up to November, and this has adversely affected construction work, but work will continue as soon as conditions allow.”

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions that promote safer, healthier, and more livable communities across the State.

Governor Eno emphasized that no approved road project, including the one in Ikot Amam, has been abandoned, reaffirming his focus on quality execution of all developmental projects.
