Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor have opened negotiations to sign Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah, with the former Liverpool star expected to travel to Turkey for further talks.
The club announced on Tuesday that Salah would arrive at Istanbul Ataturk Airport at noon on Wednesday, August 5, before travelling to Trabzon later in the day.
“Mohamed Salah, with whom we have begun transfer negotiations, will be at Istanbul Ataturk Airport… at 12:00 on Wednesday, August 5,” Trabzonspor said in a statement.
Salah left Liverpool at the end of last season after nine years at Anfield, during which he won the UEFA Champions League and two Premier League titles.
The 34-year-old scored 257 goals in 442 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, making him the club’s third-highest goalscorer of all time.
He also scored 193 Premier League goals, including 191 for Liverpool, placing him fourth on the competition’s all-time scoring chart behind Alan Shearer, Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney.
Salah endured a difficult final season at Liverpool, scoring seven league goals as the club struggled for consistency.
The Egyptian forward most recently represented his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Egypt reached the last 16 before losing to eventual runners-up Argentina after surrendering a two-goal lead.
Salah, who has also been linked with Trabzonspor’s Turkish rivals Besiktas, has scored 66 goals in 119 appearances for Egypt.
Trabzonspor finished third in the Turkish top flight last season, nine points ahead of Besiktas, earning a place in the Europa League play-off round.
