Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have arrested four suspected collaborators of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in separate intelligence-led operations in Yobe and Borno states, recovering hard drugs, food supplies and other logistics allegedly meant for terrorists.
The military said the operations formed part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist support networks and disrupt logistics channels sustaining insurgent activities in the North-East.
In the first operation, troops of the 159 Battalion under Sector 2 carried out a cordon-and-search operation in Geidam, Yobe State, on August 3, following credible intelligence, leading to the arrest of two suspected Boko Haram collaborators.
Preliminary investigations, according to the military, revealed that the suspects allegedly supplied hard drugs and other logistics to Boko Haram fighters.
Items recovered from the suspects included a large quantity of suspected Indian hemp, several mobile phones of different brands, power banks, scissors, knives, torchlights, lighters, cigarette rolls, Pregabalin capsules, Piscof syrup, National Identity Cards, Permanent Voter Cards, ATM cards and ₦14,530 in cash.
In a separate operation conducted at about 3:30 p.m. the same day, troops of Sector 3 Garrison, in collaboration with the 242 Reconnaissance Battalion, arrested two suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers during an intelligence-led operation in Monguno, Borno State.
The operation, which targeted suspected terrorist supply routes, followed sustained surveillance by security operatives.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to transporting food items and other supplies to ISWAP fighters operating in Kwatan Dowoshi Village in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Recovered items included 11 cartons and 192 sachets of assorted biscuits, one carton of Peak milk, 10 mudu of sugar, nine bars of Viva soap, six headlamps, two bags and 16 rolls of sachet garri, three packs of lighters, two Tecno mobile phones, an assault knife, a charm belt, four prayer beads, six packs of herbal medicine, ₦6,600 in cash and other miscellaneous items.
The military said the arrests underscore the effectiveness of its intelligence-driven operations aimed at cutting off logistics and other forms of support to terrorist groups operating in the North-East, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining pressure on insurgents and their collaborators.
