The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has commended Akwa Ibom State for its contributions to national development, describing Governor Umo Eno’s administration as purposeful and the state’s impact on Nigeria’s economy as significant.

The commendation was made on Monday during a courtesy visit to Governor Eno at the Government House, Uyo, by a delegation of the Commission led by Prof. Olusegun Adekunle Wright, a Federal Commissioner representing RMAFC.

Speaking on behalf of the Commission, Prof. Wright acknowledged the strategic role Akwa Ibom continues to play in the economic advancement of the country, describing the state as a symbol of resilience, enterprise and visionary leadership.

According to him, Akwa Ibom has consistently distinguished itself as one of Nigeria’s foremost contributors to national development through prudent resource management and people-oriented governance.

He praised the people of the state for their industrious nature, peaceful disposition, entrepreneurial drive and commitment to excellence, noting that these qualities have contributed significantly to the state’s development trajectory.

Prof. Wright further lauded the state government’s sustained investments in critical sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, aviation, tourism and human capital development.

He said the achievements recorded by the state stand as evidence of what can be accomplished through responsible leadership, effective management of resources and a shared commitment to progress.

“Akwa Ibom State has emerged as a model of transformational governance. Its achievements are a testament to prudent resource management, visionary leadership and the collective determination of a people united by a common aspiration for progress,” he stated.

The Federal Commissioner disclosed that the RMAFC team was in Akwa Ibom for the South-South zonal verification and data collection exercise aimed at improving and standardising national fiscal and financial service delivery.

He also expressed appreciation to the Akwa Ibom State Government for its continued cooperation and support, which he said have enabled the Commission to effectively carry out its constitutional responsibilities within the state.

Responding, Governor Umo Eno welcomed the delegation and assured them of the full support of his administration toward the successful conduct of the exercise.

The Governor thanked the Commission for its positive assessment of the state and pledged to sustain development initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and living standards of the people.

Governor Eno also acknowledged what he described as the timely and improved release of funds to states by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the intervention has enabled sub-national governments to undertake impactful projects and accelerate development.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering more people-centred projects in line with the ARISE Agenda, which focuses on economic growth, infrastructure development, social welfare and human capacity development.

Among government officials who joined the Governor to receive the delegation were the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Head of Civil Service, Mrs Elsie Peters; Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Adviser to the Governor, Mr Aniefiok Johnson; commissioners and other senior government officials.

The RMAFC delegation included Federal Commissioners Barr. Imo Akpan, Hon. Rakiya Tanko Ayuba-Haruna, Prof. Steve Ugba, Mr Modu Aji-Juluri, as well as directors and other officials of the Commission.

The visit formed part of the Commission’s ongoing engagement with states across the federation to strengthen fiscal administration and enhance the effectiveness of revenue allocation and monitoring mechanisms.
