The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 1,889 personnel across Kano State as part of special traffic control measures ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The deployment, according to the command, is aimed at ensuring road safety, reducing the risk of accidents, and improving traffic flow during the festive period when road usage is expected to increase significantly.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Kano Sector Command Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, who confirmed that both regular and special marshals have been mobilised for the operation scheduled to run from May 25 to May 31.

“The special patrol is part of routine operational measures introduced during festive periods when there is usually high traffic volume on major roads,” the statement read.
The Kano Sector Commander, Idris Lawal, said the exercise is designed to prevent road crashes, minimise congestion, and ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
“The aim is to reduce road traffic crashes, minimise congestion, and ensure the safety of lives and property during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations,” he stated.
He further explained that the command has deployed 24 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, one heavy-duty tow truck, two motorcycles, and other operational equipment positioned at strategic locations across the state to enable rapid emergency response.
Lawal also directed unit commanders and officers across all 44 local government areas of Kano State to ensure full operational coverage during the patrol period.
The FRSC warned that enforcement teams will target violations such as speeding, reckless driving, overloading, use of mobile phones while driving, and vehicles with faulty or worn-out tyres.
It added that mobile courts would be deployed to prosecute offenders, while rescue teams remain on standby to respond to emergencies.
The corps urged motorists to obey traffic regulations, exercise patience, and avoid behaviours that could lead to road accidents during the festive period.

Members of the public were also encouraged to report emergencies through the FRSC toll-free emergency line, 122, for prompt response.
The Kano Sector Command wished residents a peaceful and accident-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
